The Medical Student Exchange Programme which is going to be organized by Manmohan Memorial Community Hospital (MMCH) is a study away opportunity that allows you to take new courses and training, see new places, make new friends, and enroll in academic options that may not be available on your own campus. You can study for a short or longer period in hour Hospital or at one of our Nepalese colleges here in Katmandu. This will help you: - broaden your personal and educational - perspectives - live in and explore new areas - learn from different professors - experience personal growth - explore new areas of study - take courses not available on your home campus - acquire life skills - explore career options - investigate graduate schools - look for future employment - become more independent and resourceful - experience life from a different point of view The concept of study abroad or study makes more sense due to academic compatibility as well as for affordability and personal safety. But, through your exchange, you will have an opportunity to gain insight into the historical and cultural makeup of different regions, improve your communications skills with individuals from different backgrounds, and prepare yourself to live and work in a culturally diverse society. Length of Exchange Your eligible time for exchange may include exchange to more than one medical institute or hospital, may cross one to six months, or may involve exchange from more than one institution. No matter the mix of home campuses, host campuses or time away, you may only participate in the exchange for a cumulative total of time not to exceed six months. Exploring Exchange Participation - You must be enrolled full-time at one of SE’s member Universities in order to apply for exchange. - You must meet all SE eligibility requirements as well as additional requirements that maybe imposed by your home and host campus.You have to pay your normal tuition and fee to the Institute. - Following placement, Institute coordinator will provide written instructions for timely follow-through regarding housing, registration, enrollment, and payment. The language of instruction is English. Students for whom English is not their first language must demonstrate English language proficiency as part of the home campus application process. TOEFL, IELTS, or other language tests may also be required by Institutes for students whose first language is not English. The language of instruction is English. Rules and Regulations While on exchange, you are governed by the rules and regulations of Institute. These regulations may be different than those of your home campus. You will be subject to academic standards; residence hall rules, regulations, and contractual obligations; financial obligations and payment deadlines; course registration and withdrawal schedules; and codes of social/behavioral conduct. Personal Safety While on exchange, you are responsible for acting prudently and exercising caution and common sense at all times. Take time to learn about your new environment and familiarize yourself with campus and neighborhood surroundings. Heed the safety advice provided by your host campus coordinator, residence life staff, and others familiar with your environment. Financial Responsibility You are expected to pay tuition, fees, room, meals, and other financial obligations in accordance with stated home and host campus deadlines. Failure to make full payment of all required fees or to resolve other debts to the home or host institution will result in the cancellation of your exchange.
